Monte Carlo 2008

The first tournament of Monte Carlo was held in 1897.

More than centenary, this tournament is considered as one of the most prestigious of the world. The biggest names of the global tennis participated and won this tournament: Bjorn Borg (77, 79, 80), Gustavo Kuerten (99, 2001), Cédric Pioline (2000 ), Juan-Carlos Ferrero (2002, 2003), Guillermo Coria (2004) and Rafael Nadal who gained last editions 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Since 2000, the Tournament of Monte Carlo been a part of the category of elite of the ATP: the Masters Series. It is, with the BNP Paribas Masters, the second tournament of the TMS which sponsors BNP Paribas.

Rafael Nadal won the 2008 edition. It was his fourth successive Monte Carlo Masters.
